Accessibility

Accessibility is about building a website so that people can use it with their computer, their mobile phone or a web-enabled television. It also means building the site so that you can use it whatever size of screen or type of browser you have, and making sure you don't have to download extra things like Flash.

How we've tested this website

The rules for building sites in this way are set by the World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, and are called the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This site has been tested against these rules using the Bobby (TM) software tool. The site is AAA approved and XHTML and CSS compliant.

Getting around without a mouse

We've built this site following the Guidelines for UK Government websites to work with access keys, so that you can navigate using a non-visual browser. Here is where each key takes you:

Access key

S = Skip navigation
1 = Home page
2 = About this site
3 = The rules
4 = Home rules
5 = If things go wrong
6 = Glossary
7 = Contacts
